Are Insiders Buying or Selling This Stock?

Track insider transactions, ownership percentages, and get a net buy/sell signal for any stock.

Why Track Insider Activity?

Company insiders know their business better than anyone. When CEOs, CFOs, and board members buy stock with their own money, they're putting their personal wealth on the line. This is one of the most reliable signals in the market.

Peter Lynch famously said: "Insiders might sell their shares for any number of reasons, but they buy them for only one: they think the price will rise."

Frequently Asked Questions

Insiders (executives, directors, large shareholders) have the deepest knowledge of their company's prospects. When they buy with their own money, it often signals confidence in the stock's future. Studies show insider buying tends to precede outperformance.
Not necessarily. Insiders sell for many reasons: diversification, tax planning, home purchases, scheduled selling plans (10b5-1). However, cluster selling (multiple insiders selling around the same time) is more concerning and may signal caution.
Insider ownership shows the percentage of total shares held by company insiders. Higher insider ownership (10%+) typically aligns management interests with shareholders. Very low insider ownership may indicate less "skin in the game".
BULLISH: more buys than sells with at least 2 buys. BEARISH: more sells than buys with at least 2 sells. SLIGHTLY_BULLISH/BEARISH: marginal difference. NEUTRAL: equal or no transactions.
All insider transaction data comes from SEC filings (Form 4), which insiders are required to file within 2 business days of a transaction. We aggregate this data from public financial data providers.
